BIOROCK - Non Electric Sewage Treatment System
Septic Tank and Sewage Treatment Plant Problems Solved with the BIOROCK
The BIOROCK sustainable sewage treatment plant is now available for purchase from Crystal Tanks. It has full EN12566-3 2005.
This system is far more sustainable than the traditional septic tank. It requires NO electricity for the process and
unlike the annual emptying requirement of a septic tank, the BIOROCK emptying interval is 3 to 4 years, whilst still giving a 8:8:9 effluent quality using a single stage settlement tank or 4:3:3 when using a two stage. The BIOROCK gave the cleanest sample of any plant tested for the EN12566-3 2005 at Aachen, Germany.
The treatment process is powered by natural air currents and the air is ‘chimneyed’ through the unit by way of a low air inlet pipe at the plant and a high soil vent pipe..
A market leader in Europe for the past 13 years, this unique plant requires no electricity, saving over 1000KW of electricity and 0.5 tonnes of CO2 emissions/year for a 3 bed. house, plus an extended emptying interval of between 3 and 4 years. Compared to standard UK manufactured sewage plants, this saves between £250 to £600/year for single house units and up to £2000/year for a 40 person plant.
The BIOROCK is manufactured in recyclable HDPE polyethylene and can also be added to an existing two stage septic tank to clean the effluent to 4:3:3 standard.
One of the benefits of the remarkable BIOROCK sewage system is that it can be left unused for months with no bacterial death whatsoever. This makes it the ideal choice for Holiday lets, campsites and other seasonal situations where the majority of sewage treatment plants will not work. As the ‘start-up’ period for full treatment is only 24 hours instead of the usual 6 to 8 weeks, the advantages for the tourist Industry are immense. The effluent quality is also superb, at 7.7mg/L S.S: 7.9mg/L BOD: 8.8mg/L NH3 as standard, or 4:3:3 when following a two stage settlement tank, compared to the UK average requirement of 20:30:20.
Sizes for the modular BIOROCK treatment system start at 6 persons and are infinitely extendable to suit any population equivalent. They can be used to follow a traditional septic tank to provide full sewage treatment.
With the great emphasis on ‘Sustainability’ in the building industry, this plant breaks new ground as the first ‘Green’ sewage treatment plant and septic tank conversion unit in the UK.
